**Children between 10 years & 14 years old must be under the supervision of an adult.

Where is the meeting point for the race start?

Le Trail Pacific Energy Saama will start at Saama Village & Finish at Emua Fuel Station in the North of Efate Island ( 3km away from the initial point). Make sure to bring some cash with you from the start line should you want to buy some food on arrival. You will not access the parking area on arrival. The parking will be accessible using a shuttle bus to return back to Saama after the winning prize ceremony.

What are the meeting times at Saama Village?

🏃‍♂️‍➡️ Participants to the Challenger & Elite courses are expected at the starting site at 7.00 am at Saama Village (45 km, 1 hour from Port-Vila).

🏃‍♂️‍➡️ Participants to the Family course are expected at the starting site at 8.00 am at Saama Village (45 km, 1 hour from Port-Vila).

How can I get to the race location?

  • By your own carPlaces are very limited, please organize carpooling.
  • By bus – We will organize buses from Port Vila for an additional cost of 500 vatu per person

Car Park

Only the organization’s buses are authorized to enter the race start line area in Saama Village.

We are expecting around 618 persons.
Car parks are available but limited for your cars.
Parking sites will be indicated by assistants. Please follow their instructions.

Places are very limited, please organize carpooling.

Traffic will be temporarily interrupted when the races start.

We ask runners and car drivers to be extremely vigilant (near the race location) through out the whole event!

Buses / Transportation Timings 

To all runners, if you paid for bus transportation, you are required to be at the bus pick up location at given time below.

BUSES ARRIVAL: 5:00 am

To all runners of Challenger & Elite, if you paid for bus transportation, you are required to be at the bus pick up location from 5:30 am till 5:50 am.
BUS departure schedule from Port Vila = 5:50 am sharp

To all runners of Family, if you paid for bus transportation, you are required to be at the bus pick up location from 6:30 am till 6:50 am.
BUS departure schedule from Port Vila = 6:50 am sharp

Location : Petanque court – between AJC and Paris Shopping.

Buses will be organized for people who ticked yes for transport from Port Vila for an additional cost of 500 vatu per person .

Check in and BIB distribution

You must collect your bibs before your race starts!
* OR you may be disqualified.

It will be possible to collect your bibs and t-shirts from 7:00 am at Saama.

* To facilitate the distribution of bibs and t-shirts, please remember your bib number.
* Lists by race will also be posted at the race location on D-Day.

It is not mandatory to wear the official T-shirt.

Race Start times

Please note that it is the responsibility of each participant to ensure that they arrive at the start site on time with their bibs attached to the front of their chest.

  1. ELITE (approx. 20k) – 8:00 am
  2. CHALLENGER (approx. 15k) – 8:30 am
  3. FAMILY (approx. 8k) – 9:00 am

A briefing will be given for the 15 km & 20 km races at 7.45 am.
A briefing will be given for the 8 km races at 8.45 am.

The races will start at the scheduled time.
Any late participants and teams will be automatically disqualified.1

Equipment

Please note that no water, food or equipment will be present at the different checkpoints of the race. There will be no water bottle distribution!
You must bring your own water.

Equipment suitable for walking/running in the wilderness and self-sufficiency is therefore essential:

* A pair of walking/sport shoes (flip-flops are not allowed).
* A bag containing at least 2 Liters of water.
* Food/Snacks to sustain your effort for a period of 3 to 7 hours.
* First Aid Kit
* A 40 cm long strapping.
* 1 charged telephone for the team.
* 1 whistle for each team member.
* The map of your course (to be printed by yourself).

It is recommended to have your legs covered (pants, high socks, tights, …), a hat, a pair of gloves.

The organization reserves the right to check the conformity of the equipment of each runner, and, if necessary, can decide to prohibit the departure or to disqualify participants not having the required material.

Race’s Progress

At each checkpoint, make sure that the controllers have checked your bib numbers (be patient if there is a wait, take advantage of it to eat, drink & rest).

☑️ 5 checkpoints for Elite race.
☑️ 3 checkpoints for Challenger race
☑️ 1 checkpoint for Family race.

* At checkpoint 1 for Elite and Challenger, the Elite and Challenger tracks separate. Elite continue towards CP 2, CP 3.
* At Elite checkpoint 4, the Elite track joins the Challenger course (checkpoint 2 for Challenger).
* The last checkpoint will be checkpoint 1 for family, checkpoint 3 for Challenger and checkpoint 5 for Elite.

COURSE MARKINGS & SIGNS

The 3 courses are marked with pink or orange paint and orange cloth.

At regular intervals, you will also find information posters informing you about your progress, according to the official map of your course.

Withdrawal / Disqualification

If you wish to abandon your course, do so only at a checkpoint by giving your bib number to the controllers who will take the appropriate measures.

The disqualification of the runner will be pronounced in the following cases:

* Change of course at CP1 (for Challenger and Elite)
* Absence of race number or race number not visible on the chest
* Exchange of race number before or during the race, not in accordance with the organization
* Not respecting the time barriers at CP4 Elite (H start + 3 hours 30 min, Elite only)
* Taking a road that does not conform to the courses established by the organization
* Non assistance to another team

Security

🚨 SECURITY

Safety is everyone’s business.

By your behavior during the event, you must make sure to maintain your own physical integrity by adopting a speed adapted to your aptitude and physical condition. The speed of a team is that of its slowest element; identify your partner’s abilities and place him or her in the lead in order to adopt the right speed.

Throughout the course, 15 Vanuatu Mobile Force infantry will be present to provide first aid if necessary. They will be equipped with a radio and will be able to take the most appropriate measures for your situation.

🆘 IF YOU NEED ASSISTANCE

* Stay on the race track ;
* Identify with your map the nearest VMF point and try to get there ;
* Use your phone by calling : 7735801 / 7779097
* Ask for assistance from another team ;
* Use your whistle to alert the teams around ;

🚑 1 ProMedical station will be at your disposal for this event:
* Located at the Finish line in Emua

Gregory – Specialist Physiotherapist (physiotherapist, osteopath, sport physiotherapist and manual therapist) and Annick (nurse) will also be present at Emua after the race to help you (free of charge).

🗑️ Littering

Littering is prohibited. All runners are responsible to keep our lush Vanuatu jungle clean and also care for our environment.

 AFTER RACE SNACK

K2 Cafe will be present to sell burgers & fries if you wish to eat.
Other local foods will be sold & Soft Drinks will be on sale as well.

Make sure to bring some cash to buy some food at the end of the race. You will not access the parking area on arrival. The parking will be accessible using a shuttle bus to return back to Saama.

Winning Prize & Prize-Giving Ceremony

A prize-giving ceremony is planned on the finish site of the 3 races at 11.30 am.

3th place – 5,000 vatu

CHALLENGER

1st place – 15,000 vatu

2nd place – 7,5000 vatu

3th place – 2,500 vatu
